I particularly loved the "both of our choices, not just mine, btw" comment.

1) The fact that she felt the need to clarify her behaviour to a stranger tells us that she is feeling self-conscious about "their" decision and doesn't others to think she forced her husband into anything.

2) Her self-consciousness indicates that at some level she feels her decision was wrong - likely because she did indeed force her viewpoint upon her husband.

3) Her husband has likely already discovered TrueCrypt and is now keeping secrets from his wife - which is actually much more unhealthy than the original "problem".

Wow, lighten up lady. If you didn't care for the tweet don't read it or click on the link that was posted in it. Just because you're husband has some porn addiction doesn't make it our problem. I for one was intrigued by the fact porn stars are on twitter but that didn't mean I am following any of them. It's america and you have the freedom to do/say/post what you choose. Don't hate leo for posting it. If anything you should be keeping your husband in check for his low life porn addiction.

And you certainly don't have to follow said porn stars twitter-streams. There are two little concepts this wife needs to become acquainted with: free-will and self-control. Ok, your husband has problem with porn (I expect it's a bigger problem for you than him, but's neither here nor there), he's a fucking grown-up and if he is committed to your marriage, he won't click the link.

People need to stop blaming others for their failings. It was a news story Leo reported on, and he posted a related link. It's not like he was endorsing the porn industry. To get here, you are likely following Leo on twitter. That means you're pegging pretty strongly on the geek-o-meter (I'm with you, I'm one of you). And that makes you pretty smart people. Too smart to not have heard of porn addiction. Just like drug addiction, it destroys lives. It can become a focal point of a person's life to the exclusion of all other things, including spouses and family.

Folks, it's real. It's hurting people. And Leo should be aware of it and shouldn't be handing it out links to porn stars, like he was outside a seven-eleven giving beer to alcoholics.


ps. Leo - you may have been posting an interesting tidbit as a result of your conversation with Handel, but that only explains the first post. You then provided an even "better" link just a little while later. Do your kids follow you in twitter? Do you mind if they click those links and start following porn stars? If that's OK, how far are you willing to go? Is it OK for your kids to subscribe to porn and have it brought into your house? Do you mind if they participate in the business? How liberal are you on this topic?

I find it interesting that most people have no trouble looking at porn, but those same people would go completely nuts if you suggested their girlfriend, wife, daughter, or mother would be great in porn. they would be ashamed if they found out their girlfriend, wife, daughter, or mother were porn stars. I expect that the negative responses I get will be from those who don't care if their girlfriend, wife, daughter, or mother is in the porn business. And that is very sad. In fact, it's so sad because it puts you in the same group with child molesters and other sexual deviants. There is nothing normal about wanting your daughter or mother to be in the porn business, even though there are mothers and daughters in it.

that's what happens when people -like that ex-fan- gets deeply offended. their moral values don't coincide with their false perceptions. those judgmental puritans need to get off the internet and pull the locked doors closed a lot tighter. /sarcasm

politics and religion aside, they placed preconceived judgement and categorical limits on someone they deemed as acceptable. it's a set up for failure in their own eyes. it's best if they were never fans.

quality of fans over quantity. entropy in this case was in your favour. no work required. they weeded themselves out. lol

Seriously? Seriously? I applaud your reporting and will continue to give you my respect, attention, and support. The tweet in question was just a report on technology and how it is effecting all industries. You did not begin sharing what these porn stars were twittering, but just shared the fact that they ARE twittering. If people are too closed minded to understand that, then they deserve to not recieve information. I am very sad for them. Keep up the great work, Leo.

The crazy thing being, if you do a little digging I suspect it's not even actual porn stars doing the tweeting, if it's anything like their blogs and other publicity crap online, that stuff all gets farmed out to affiliates. When you rub shoulders with people employed in the ghastly world of revshare marketing you learn things that basically ruin the internet forever :(

Of course this may have been the point of the original article, I didn't RTFA. And if this woman had done the same none of us would have had this comment thread to share.
